Are you an ambitious CAD Technician or Design Engineer looking to contribute to high-profile UK energy and clean power infrastructure?

Join a leading engineering services business delivering major infrastructure and energy packages across the UK. Their specialist team actively supports high-profile New Nuclear Build programmes, playing a key role in critical electrical installations and advanced replication strategies for complex nuclear projects.

We are looking for a Design Engineer / CAD Technician to join their growing team in Bristol. In this role, you will focus on 3D cable tray routing, AVEVA E3D detailing, structural support placement, and multidisciplinary BIM collaboration to support upcoming project milestones.

Responsibilities, but are not limited to

  • Route cables in AVEVA E3D using the Cabling System module based on input cable lists

  • Define overall Local Cable Tray (LCT) layout architectures across building rooms, ensuring strict compliance with cable segregation rules (voltage levels, electrical trains)

  • Pre-dimension Local Cable Tray (LCT) volumes and perform final detailing using AVEVA E3D catalogue components (straight sections, couplers, bends)

  • Design and place structural supports for final Local Cable Tray (LCT) networks in line with project rules

  • Interface smoothly across multidisciplinary 3D BIM environments (Civil, Piping, HVAC, MEP)

  • Follow internal guidelines, maintain accurate Excel progress trackers, and perform self-verification quality control

  • Report progress regularly to the Team Leader and identify potential design or planning risks

Experiences required

  • Experience in AVEVA E3D (ideally). Open to candidates with cable tray routing design experience in alternative 3D packages (e.g., Revit, Bentley Systems, Hexagon Smart 3D)

  • Cable tray routing and 3D modelling in mechanical, HVAC, MEP, or pipework-adjacent environments

  • Nuclear or heavy industrial sector experience preferred

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience (open to graduates with a 1-year placement/internship up to experienced technicians)
