Join a bespoke furniture manufacturer specialising in fitted, freestanding and upholstered furniture. Working with interior designers and luxury retail clients, the business delivers high-quality pieces from initial concept and design through to manufacture and installation.

Due to continued growth in demand for bespoke commissions, they’re looking to appoint a CAD Design & Project Manager to strengthen their design team. The role would suit an experienced furniture or joinery designer confident using AutoCAD 2D and, ideally, SolidWorks, to produce detailed technical drawings and manufacturing information for the workshop.

Responsibilities, but are not limited to

  • Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks for bespoke fitted, freestanding and upholstered furniture

  • Prepare technical specifications, material take-offs, joinery details, cutting lists and manufacturing information for workshop and CNC production

  • Translate client briefs, design concepts and hand sketches into practical, production-ready furniture designs, applying knowledge of joinery, construction methods, materials and DFMA principles

  • Create photorealistic renders and 3D visualisations using SolidWorks, SketchUp, KeyShot, V-Ray or similar software to support client presentations, design development and approvals

  • Coordinate multiple bespoke furniture and joinery projects from concept through to manufacture and installation, including programmes, costs, materials, site surveys and key milestones

  • Liaise with clients, interior designers, workshop teams, makers and external suppliers, reviewing CAD drawings and resolving technical or production issues to ensure designs are accurate, buildable and delivered to specification

Experiences required

  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD 2D or a similar 2D CAD package, such as DraftSight, BricsCAD or AutoCAD LT

  • Experience with 3D CAD modelling, ideally SolidWorks, or comparable software such as Inventor, Fusion 360, Onshape, Creo or Shapr3D

  • Experience producing technical, manufacturing and production drawings, including 3D assemblies, configurations, cutting lists and material take-offs

  • Good understanding of furniture construction, joinery, materials, finishes, hardware, DFMA and manufacturing processes

  • Familiarity with SketchUp, Rhino 3D, Vectorworks, KeyShot, V-Ray, Enscape or similar visualisation software advantageous

  • Knowledge of CNC, CAD/CAM and digital production workflows; experience with Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, SWOOD, TopSolid’Wood, PYTHA, PolyBoard, VCarve or Alphacam would be beneficial

  • Experience coordinating projects, undertaking site surveys and supporting furniture installation or interior fit-out
